While not as well known as his contemporary, Otis Redding, William Bell belted out some of the most soulful music you'll ever hear. Like Otis, Bell was also on Stax Records, the Motown of the south and used the same backing band, Booker T and the MG's. The only reason I can see why William Bell isn't a household name like Otis Redding is that Otis died in a plane crash and William is alive today. Everybody just loves tragedy, don't they.
