Payroll Slim

A distinct aspect of the rap world is being able to walk up to random people on the street and try and sell your latest album. I've never had somebody walk up to me and say "Yo, you listen to Metalcore?". My usual philosophy twords music makes me avoid anything that I didn't stumble upon or seek out on my own, but the this guy drove a hard bargain. He was in Town From Louisville, KY and the pitch started out as one poorly packed CD-R for $10. After 30+ seconds of scepticism and "gee...idunno"'s I had him down to 4 poorly packed CD-Rs for $5. Must be that 1/64th of Gypsy blood in me, or maybe from being married to the daughter of a used car dealer.
Anyway, after purchasing my deeply discounted albums i was overwhelmed with intrigue. The covers looked like they were designed on Microsft's Paint, with a nearly illegable tracklist on the backside. They also didn't quite fit in the sleaves, which upon closer inspection were made from cut up pages of a CD binder. I couldn't wait to get home and listen to it, as the packaging reminded me of some of awsome records made by my friends bands.
Three months later I found the discs under a pile of junk on my desk and popped them in the ol' cd player. Hot damn! the music has the same fucked up charm as the cover. Peaked out beats with carelessly placed samples, uneven levels, and vocals that sound like they were recoded through a pair of headphones. I feel like i'm describing the last record my band put out. Let me know if you want more, I've got 3 more albums!
