I saw recently in the paper (actually, word of mouth, but i was told the source was printed on paper) that the US census bureau is hiring people of unusual backgrounds to talk to people who otherwise wouldn't cooperate. One such person is Johnny Strike of CRIME. Apparently the Census Bureau wants to know how many people in the city say things like "You kids don't know..." and "... back at when we used to go to Mabuhay..". I guess they're banking that the irony of a government agency hiring somebody who used to impersonate a police officer is all it takes to ask some questions to paroniod shut-ins. Crime was San Francisco's first "punk" band and is often credited with releasing the first "Punk" record not just in San Francisco, but the world! Beware, saying this to somebody who actually cares about things like that is guaranteed to open up a long boring debate.
