ZTTF

So, i don't have any cover art for this, but i don't know if his was properly released. I also don't know if this is a collection of 7"s and shit, it sounds like theirs at least two different sounding sessions on here but i have no idea on the recording dates. All i have is this cd that came out of a stack of them on Jason's floor and a handful of hazy beer fogged memories.

I remember meeting these dudes at the old Spam office on foothill. The singer was sitting on the floor reading while rocking back and forth. Every so often he would ash his cigarette neatly in his hand and wipe the ashes on his pants. I asked him where they were from, in a Monty Python-ish tone he answered "Tuscon. Tucson is the land of cheap drugs. Have you ever been?" at that time i hadn't, but years later I would kill a whole day in downtown Tuscon trying to hook up a pound of brick weed for the novelty of it. He also professed his love for the Cruifucks and said he was on a mission to spread their gospel. When they played, he wore his orange jumpsuit from the Pima County Jail. I don't know how the hell he smuggled it out, but if i survived jail in Arizona i'd sure as hell want some souvenir from it. They played one of he punkest songs I've heard to this day, the chorus went something like

Dead cops, cant lie in court
Dead cops, they make the news ok

A year or two later i heard their van flipped over on tour and two out of three of them died. A real bummer, these guys were fucking rad and nobody really documented them other than some scattered vinyl releases. here's a cool video from 1997, long before i saw them.

Fred, the lone solid member of ZTTF through the near-20 YEARS they were a band-- used to put out a bunch of tape comps. Weird Tucson bands, zttf, other bands from around the country, etc. Most folks, even those who have been hanging out and rocking out in Tucson for years, have/had never heard ZTTF, and maybe only remember Fred loosely as "some sketchy dude babbling to himself wandering around Congress st. at 3 a.m.". However, Toxic Shock, last time I checked, still makes copies of some of his old tape comps ,and put together a ZTTF discography cd... not to be confused with the one Fred put together before the final ZTTF tour (r.i.p.). Anyway-- it just made me happy to see you posting something about those beautiful weirdos up on here. You can also still find videos of them playing on Tucson Public Access TV in the video archives at the downtown library.
